This page shows my first large (53" circ.) Gourd with Cover.  It has carving, plus various finishes.  The inside is fully finished.  This gourd will be at the Kerrville, TX fine arts and cultural center's Gourd Art  Show May 22-July6th 2008

Bottom of container is finished for balance (so the gourd sits well) and so that it does not scratch the surface it sits on.
